When to see a Nurse instead of a Doctor
New patients checks e.g. blood pressure / height/ weight etc
Ongoing general health monitoring – e.g. blood pressure / height/ weight etc
Annual Asthma checks – if known/ established asthma diagnosis
Annual COPD checks (emphysema and chronic bronchitis) – if known/established COPD diagnosis
Diabetes checks –if established diabetic diagnosis
Wound dressings e.g. ulcers – We do not perform suturing i.e if acute laceration, please visit your nearest A&E emergency department.
Suture removals – as indicated by the hospital e.g. post operations / post A&E injury sutures
Childhood immunisations
Flu jabs (when correct season and only if eligible) – We do not administer covid vaccines. Please use the NHS website during the correct season to check if you are eligible.
Ear syringing – please note the doctors do not perform these. You need to see the doctor first, who will then instruct you to make an appointment with the nurse if syringing is needed.
Travel immunisations – The NHS covers only some travel disease immunisations (other disease immunisations will need to be done privately). Please first check with reception as from time to time there may be difficulties due to high demand of other nursing services.
Cervical Smears – check with reception or your NHS app to see if you are eligible regarding your last smear. These usually every 3 years, but can vary.
Vaginal swabs – e.g. sexually transmitted diseases
Repeat contraception – e.g. pills/injections, only if already established on medication
Psychiatric injection medications – only for established patients only where agreement is for the GP surgery to continue injections from psychiatric care.
Practice Team
The practice has many non clinical staff (admin and reception) who help with the running of the surgery.
All staff maintain the highest level of confidentiality of patient records.

District Nurses
The District Nurses are employed by the Croydon Care Commissioning Group and are based at Woodside Health Centre. Their duties include visiting patients at home when they are unable to come to the surgery. Each patient’s needs are assessed and the care/treatment is planned accordingly.
